What Is DNS Propagation?
When you change your DNS records (like updating your A record to point to a new server, or adding SPF/DKIM), the change doesn't happen everywhere at once. DNS resolvers around the world cache your old records for a period called the TTL (Time To Live). During this window — typically a few minutes to 48 hours — different parts of the world may see different results.
This is called DNS propagation. Our tool queries 15 public resolvers simultaneously so you can see exactly which locations see the new records and which still see the old ones.

When Should You Use a DNS Propagation Checker?
- After migrating to a new web host — verify your A record points to the new server globally
- After setting up email (SPF/DKIM/DMARC) — confirm your TXT records are visible worldwide
- When troubleshooting "site not loading" for some users — they might be hitting an old cached record
- Before launching a new website — make sure your DNS has fully propagated before going live
- After changing nameservers — confirm the NS records are updated everywhere
FAQ
Usually 1-4 hours, but it can take up to 48 hours depending on your TTL settings. Lower TTLs (300-600 seconds) speed up propagation.
Yes. No signup, no limits, no ads. Query any domain, any record type, as many times as you need.
Each resolver caches DNS records independently based on the TTL. Until caches expire, different resolvers may return old or new data.
Yes. Select "TXT" from the dropdown to verify SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records globally. Great for confirming email authentication changes have propagated.
