🌐 Free DNS Record Change Monitor
Track DNS record changes for any domain. Get instant alerts when MX, TXT, NS, or A records change. Free, no ads, no signup.
Why Monitor DNS Records?
📧 Mail Server Changes
Detect when MX records are modified — catch email provider migrations, configuration errors, or unauthorized changes before email breaks.
🖧 IP Address Changes
Track A/AAAA record modifications. Know instantly if your server IP changes — whether planned migration or unexpected drift.
🛡️ Security Policies
Monitor TXT records for SPF, DKIM, DMARC policy changes. Catch misconfigurations that could open your domain to spoofing attacks.
🔄 Nameserver Switches
NS record changes mean a DNS provider migration. Know when it happens so you can verify everything transferred correctly.
⚡ 15-Minute Scans
Our system re-resolves DNS every 15 minutes. SHA-256 hash comparison catches any change — even a single character difference.
📧 Email Alerts
Pro tier sends instant email notifications when DNS records change. Know within minutes, not when something breaks.
📋 Record Types We Monitor
| 🅰️ A / AAAA | IPv4 and IPv6 address records — where your domain points |
| 📧 MX | Mail exchange — which servers handle incoming email |
| 📝 TXT | SPF policies, DKIM keys, DMARC, verification tokens |
| 🖧 NS | Authoritative nameservers for the domain |
| 🔄 CNAME | Canonical name aliases — subdomain redirects |
| ⚙️ SOA | Start of Authority — zone serial, refresh, retry timers |
How DNS Monitoring Works
Enter a domain and pick a record type (or All Records)
We resolve DNS and compute a SHA-256 hash of all records
Our cron re-resolves DNS and compares hashes
Hash mismatch = DNS changed. Pro tier gets instant email
🔧 Real-World Use Cases
- 🏢 IT Operations — Monitor critical business domains. Know immediately if DNS changes break email or websites.
- 🔄 DNS Migration — Add a domain before switching providers. Verify every record transferred correctly.
- 🛡️ Security Teams — Track SPF/DKIM/DMARC changes. Detect misconfigurations or unauthorized DNS modifications.
- 📊 Competitive Intelligence — Monitor competitor domains for DNS changes that signal tech stack shifts.
- 🌍 Multi-Domain Management — Track DNS for all your domains in one dashboard. Know when any of them change.
⚡ Pro Tip: Combine With Other Monitors
DNS monitoring catches record changes. But what about SSL cert expiry or website content changes? Pair our DNS monitor with the SSL Renewal Reminder and Website Change Monitor for complete domain surveillance.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
How does DNS record change detection work?
When you add a domain, we resolve its DNS records and compute a SHA-256 hash of all matching records (sorted for consistency). Every 15 minutes, our system re-resolves the same records and computes a new hash. If the hash doesn't match, the records have changed. You can monitor individual record types (e.g., only MX) or All Records to track everything.
How quickly are changes detected?
Our scanner runs every 15 minutes, so you'll know about DNS changes within 15 minutes. This is fast enough for most use cases — DNS propagation itself typically takes minutes to hours. If you need faster detection, check out our Pro API for on-demand polling.
Is the DNS data live or cached?
Live! Every scan performs a fresh DNS resolution against live nameservers. We never cache DNS data between scans. This means you're always comparing against what's actually being served right now — not stale cache from hours ago.
What's the difference between Free and Pro?
Free tier: Monitor up to 3 domains, 15-minute scan interval, no email alerts (view changes in dashboard only). Pro tier (€7/mo): Unlimited domains, instant email alerts when DNS records change, paid via crypto (BTC/LTC).
What happens if the domain doesn't have certain records?
Missing record types are simply skipped — they don't cause errors. For example, if a domain has MX records but no CNAME, we'll hash the MX records and ignore the missing CNAME. If a record type that was previously present disappears, that counts as a change and you'll be alerted.
Can I monitor multiple domains at once?
Absolutely. Free tier supports 3 domains with any record type configuration. Pro tier removes the limit — monitor as many domains as you need. Each domain/record_type pair is tracked independently, so you can monitor MX records for one domain and All Records for another.
