What is BIMI?
BIMI (Brand Indicators for Message Identification) lets you display your brand logo next to your emails in supporting email clients. It's the visual indicator that tells recipients "this email is really from your brand."
As of 2026, BIMI is supported by Gmail, Apple Mail, Fastmail, and other major clients. It requires DMARC with a p=quarantine or p=reject policy.
BIMI Requirements
- A DMARC policy of
p=quarantineorp=reject(p=none is not accepted) - SPF and DKIM must be properly configured
- An SVG logo in BIMI-specific format (SVG Tiny PS)
- A VMC (Verified Mark Certificate) for Gmail (optional but required for logo display in Gmail)
Setting Up BIMI
Step 1: Meet DMARC Requirements
Your domain must have DMARC with enforcement policy. Check with our free tool.
Step 2: Create Your Logo
The logo must be an SVG file in SVG Tiny PS format (a constrained profile of SVG). Maximum file size: 32KB. The logo should be square and work well at small sizes (32x32 display).
Step 3: Host the Logo
Host your SVG at a URL like https://yourdomain.com/bimi/logo.svg
Step 4: Add the BIMI DNS Record
TXT record at default._bimi.yourdomain.com:
v=BIMI1; l=https://yourdomain.com/bimi/logo.svg; a=https://yourdomain.com/bimi/vmc.pem
Check Your BIMI Setup
Use our free mailcheck to scan your domain's BIMI record. We also check all related authentication: SPF, DKIM, DMARC, MTA-STS.
